What’s in My Hand Luggage

I am used to travelling and I have different luggage depending on the type of trip I am planning.

Since I started my menopause there are several items I now wouldn’t travel without and these usually go straight into my hand luggage to ensure that they don’t get lost along the way. This time of year is my time for a wellbeing vacation. I always look forward to this holiday at the end of winter going into Spring. It is for me, like a big occasion…..like letting go of winter and a time of rebirth. It is a definitely a “Time-out for Meg” holiday as I feel I need it after the cold depressing dark winter weather. It’s nice, it feel like a fresh start and new possibilities. I think it is so important and a necessity to have some time for ourselves when we don’t care about our outfit, hair or jewellery or anything else we usually need to take care of in our daily lives. So, for this specific trip my luggage is something simple. Something essential. Something to nourish my body and mind as it will be ’my’ holiday. Besides my checked luggage, I have some items that always come with me in my hand luggage. I usually bring with me personal toiletries that I can’t buy while I’m away such as my hand lotion, soap, 15ml face moisturiser.

Of course I am bringing my CBD gummy bears.

No haircare products for me as I will probably not do anything with my hair at all, just maybe putting some coconut oil to combat any dryness. I will also have coconut oil for my morning scrub. I also have my “rosey rain” spray for my face to keep it well hydrated as the air on the plane can make my skin feel dry. I always bring with me hyaluronic acid for my skin, and I also have TRUSI ultra high concentrated Magnesium in a bottle of water. Magnesium really helps me to feel calm and sleep better.

Even if it is a pretty short flight I like to have different options like books or audible books. Right now I am reading a few different books: I have one book that helps me manage my anxiety, called ‘The Anxiety Solution’, but also a book called ‘The Silent Sister’ which I picked up from Oxfam (I am always getting my books from there) and I will give it back when I have finished it. I also have my headphones with me and my Ipad with “Planet Earth” downloaded which is an amazing Netflix documentary.

Another must have in my luggage is a clean t-shirt, you never know what happens either with the checked luggage or with hot flushes!

My travel outfit is a comfortable tracksuit with a pair of comfortable shoes and some socks in case it gets cold on the plane. I am not planning to have any medication or vitamins with me, as I strongly believe your body needs a rest sometimes even from supplements. This time is my time to detox completely and usually when I get back from this holiday I will do a saliva test for my vitamin levels, which seems to be a more reliable way to test for me. I consider April/May to be a time of rebirthing, so time to come out of winter and step into spring. I am also planning to swim every morning as it is good for your body and your circulation, so I will have a swimsuit with me, but nothing fancy. Other items in my luggage are just t-shirts, trainers, comfy yoga clothes it’s all about being completely comfortable, so no dresses or matching outfits as this vacation is just to focus on wellbeing. I am definitely taking my crystals with me and my blue lights stone, the very same I am using at home. Another absolute must are my tweezers. I cannot go anywhere also without my bamboo toothbrush and my charcoal toothpaste, and of course mouthwash.

As I will travel very early at 7am, I am planning on drinking plenty of water and carrying a green juice with me, which I will drink my way to the airport. For the flight, I will just have some fruit and again plenty of water. As I am also doing interval fasting at the moment, there is no need to bring anything with me as I will just have my meals after 5pm. Before that it’s just some green juices for me. This holiday is just for me, we speak a lot about the importance of self-care, which is why I do this. So, my luggage will be an easy, simple one; plenty of comfort to just allow my mind and body to relax.
